I have a pending I-485 application (EB-3) and effective Oct 1, my PD will be current. My application has been pending for more than six months already so I will be covered by AC21. I never worked for my sponsoring employer but will be as soon as I get my GC.
I have a feeling that my green card is just around the corner. Spoke to my employer yesterday about my employment with them and it looks like they are changing their minds about hiring me.
I am so worried. Anybody in the same situation? What do I do? Will I lose the green card?

It was clearly written in the last 2 pages of any Indian passport that, one should not handover passport to any one; unless other wise MOE (Ministry of External Affairs), Indian Court has ordered so.
It is illegal to:
1. Hand over passport to any one
2. Send through courier across borders
3. To Mortgage passport (a set of people will do in some cases; when they owe money)
4. In Possesen of others passport.
The imprisonment for doing so is 6 months to 3 years in jail or fine or may be both (to the best of my knowledge).
So be careful in doing so.
P.S-1: Handing over passport to Consulate/Embassies is a different case and person should be in the same country where the consulate is while applying for visa?.

You may be lucky You can have a GC without I-140 approval. True. Your GC status is subject to I-140 Approval

<> I then left Company 1 and joined a multi national IT Giant in India - Infosy. Joined Info - Jan 07 in India . BUT I was in good terms with Company 1
<>Came back to USA , as Infosys Employee around Sep 07 on B1 visa from India for 3 months . Went back to India.
<>Rejoined Company 1 ( my Original Company ) in Jan 08 ( Petition approved) . Got visa stamp around June 08 and entered US. Got Project Aug 08 and since then on project till date.
<> While on project Aug 08 I apply for I485 as my category EB2 became current. Got my FP done.
Then Around Nov 08 I got EAD and AP papers. So I have an EAD and AP
My Q's are
<> I heard that EB2 is retrogressing to 2000 for India . Now does not apply to folks whose LC and I140 Is approved or only for those who are stuck up at I140 Stage.
Please clarify on this. If I am in a stage where I am expecting my GC and already for EAD does it apply to me
<> What is a VISA Number. There is an A# Number on MY EAD and that same number shows up on AP Document ( I512-L Authorization for parole ) . Is this the same as an Immigrant Visa # or that is something that issues when I am granted my GC.
<> 6 months have passed since I got my EAD. If I join a new Employer and start using this EAD , can I renew it infinitely, till I get GC . I dont agree with the laws passed, but here is the math to come up with the $600 million figure they are quoting.
# of possible H1Bs = 85k (65k + 20k)
Fees (additional) = $2000
Total Fees = $170 million ($2k x 85k)
The fee increase is for 4 years = (2010-2014)
GRAND Total = $680 million ($170 million x 4)

On the home page I see 3 Flash and 3 SL-based tutorials that were added recently. Sounds really biased to me.
I have no interest in fragmenting the site by covering new topics that are less designer focused and more for developers. If you want to submit a tutorial, make sure it is Flash CS4 or Expression Blend (WPF / SL) related. Otherwise, I will more than likely turn it down.

Anything you will take for your H1 stamping + documents to prove that she is your wife. Her H4 status depends on your H1 status, your relationship and your ability to support her.

The Civil Rights Division's Coordination and Review Section can handle individual complaints alleging discrimination on the basis of race, color, national origin, sex, and religion by State and local law enforcement agencies that receive financial assistance from the Department of Justice.

Some of the figures looked a bit too unbelievable so I checked out. A particular one that was hard to believe - in the US Science and Engineering undergraduates is 32% (page 1 of IV report). On checking with the referenced document (Executive summary) at:

Secretaries are from the Executive Branch and are responsible for the execution of the laws and are not directly responsible for the creation of the laws. So we could expect Memos that are more favorable to us but I wouldn't hold my breath over CIR yet.

President's approval is needed on every little provision as he can veto the bill after all the has been work done by the Congess. So the approval of executive branch is always required for any bill/provision. So President and the executive branch has a a lot of say in decising which provisions go into the bill, more than the most powerful Senators and Congressmen. Arizon Governor is a big proponent of immigration reform and that's why her assignment to this job is significant, as she may also act as an interface between the WH and the Congress to push for an immigration reform. The point is, she is a friend of a reform bill, and she wants it done now.

This is beginning to look more and more like a organized and deliberate attempt to block people from filing for AOS.....
Dude, the whole system is setup and organized wrongly deliberately..
In the guise of fairness and promoting racial diversity, the system is deliberately setup so that countries that supply most labor backlog all the time....
Phillippines for healthcare workers
Chindia for technology workers
Mexico for low skilled workers
This gives businesses that employ the imported labor the opportunity to exploit the employees at will.
There are always unused visa numbers and oversubscribed countries in the system all the time...this gives politicians the leeway to throttle immigration as they want...through the DOS bulletins...the July fiasco was just an extreme example of this practice....
Even if a point based system is brought in, the per country fixed quotas will not go away....and thus the retrogression will continue....yes, you qualify through the point based system, but since a lot more from your country qualify too...you go the end of the line...

So, the I-485 itself cannot be 'ported', right? Interfiling gives the benefit of having an I-140 with a higher category (here, EB2), but an older PD (from the EB3). Right?
What kind of 'delays' does the new I-485 application add? (Possibly a moot point ;)) New medicals (ouch!)? etc.? etc.?
